This is a day of failed hopes and dreams, and near-tearful disappointment.
Sadly, somehow, my talk of going to “vote” has been (mis)understood by my two year old as going out on a “boat.” And somehow, his talk of the “boat” has been more successful than my talk of the “vote” at convincing the four year old that this morning we are due to go out sailing on a river instead of to the elementary school down the street to cast our ballot.
I’m still sorting through the details; there are indications that they believe that Hillary Clinton will, indeed, be on the boat with us. They had a far more interesting day planned than I did.
Maybe you can do both…though I doubt Hillary is available for impromptu sailing…
yet again, my day ends with a chuckle….i can’t wait until A__ gets to interpret life according words. it’s so awfully fun and silly.
Alas, democracy is full of disappointments.
Could be worse, I made our toddler help me pass out fliers in the lead up to the last Australian elections – I’ve got to say it is the only time that everyone has politely taken the information even if they aren’t interested.
Little Miss thought it was great as well because all the people were nice to her ……… and she got an ice cream each time.
Maybe you can buy an election after all, just with ice cream not cold hard cash.
The EXACT thing happened to me. My 3 yo daughter looked around at the boring county building and said, “But where is the Boat? You said we were going boating?”
Nice and usefull post, thanks, this is one for my bookmarks!
